Richard M. Onofry (Retired)

Richard Onofry, founder of the firm and now retired, has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM since 1997.  As a CFP® licensee, Dick is committed to continuing education in the field of financial planning and must regularly meet rigorous education requirements. 

Dick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from American University and also holds a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the State University of New York.  He has further pursued doctoral studies in Economics at the University of Massachusetts. 

Dick worked for over twenty years on economic and financial issues related to the electric utility industry.  In 1996, after leaving the corporate life, Dick founded his own firm.  The firm provided financial services to individuals and small businesses as well as utility consulting services.  In October of 1997 Dick joined Strategic Financial Planners, Inc. and managed the Port Jervis office of that firm as a financial planner until May of 2001 when Dick formed Onofry Financial Services. As of December 31, 2021 Dick is now retired.

Dick is a Port Jervis native and resides there with his wife Lynda.  His son Craig is a manager at Kolmar Laboratories in Port Jervis, NY.  His daughter Megan is the Advocacy Director at Child Advocacy Services, SEGA, Inc. in Statesboro, GA.  Dick's son Scott continues operating Onofry Financial Services.  Dick has been active in the community including coaching Little League baseball, youth soccer, and youth basketball.  Dick is a member of Goodwill Church, which is located in Montgomery, NY. He is a past member of the Port Jervis chapter of the Rotary Club.
